Welcome to the web site of our small hobby kennel, Bear Hug Griffons. 

Our names are Lonnie and Marsha’ Carroll and we hope to show you this wonderful breed of dog that we have fallen in love with, the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, also known as the korthals griffon.

First of all we would like to introduce you to this lovable breed of dog.  The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, is a very people oriented breed.  They are known for their high degree of trainability and cooperation and a great love for the field and water.  They are truly Versatile Hunting Dogs.  Griffons are at home in any venue, whether it is the confirmation ring, hunt test or agility trial.  They have keen noses and are excellent trackers.  The fun loving nature of this dog and its outgoing personality make it a wonderful family pet. 

But we would likewise offer up a couple of things to keep in mind.  The Griffon does require some exercise daily to keep them content and calm.  They are a member of the sporting group and as such can be very active.  This is especially true in the first two years.  They also require some coat upkeep.  They are strong for their size.  And as we tell everyone, they are smarter than we are.

As Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Breeders we occasionally have Wirehaired Pointing Griffon puppies available.  We don’t breed often and believe in the axiom that quality is better than quantity.  Keeping that in mind it seems odd that we have two litters planned for this spring.  But at the time they made sense and we expect great things from both.  Some of the details are below.  Click on the buttons to see more.

This litter will be out of Sweet Pea, CH Bear Hug Bring It On JH NA NAJ, and Ucky, Ucky du Domaine du Huguera.  Sweet Pea is well documented here, but Ucky is an International, French and Croatian Conformation Champion, plus an Autumn Field Trial Champion in France.  He is 22 inches tall and weighs 60 pounds.  His DNA test for the K locus was KBKB, as was Sweet Pea’s.
